Kamikōchi Valley Walks

Safety classification
Safe window: April 17 to November 15 (2026 season — Kama Tunnel/bus opening to seasonal close), best May–October. Not safe/available: November 16 to April 16 the valley is closed — no buses, all shops, hotels and facilities shut; the official rules page states winter entry is 'at your own risk' due to avalanche and falling-rock hazards. Heavy rain can close the access road at any time in season (official closure notice June 26, 2026).

Inside Chubu-Sangaku National Park (Ministry of the Environment; established 1934), with the visitor infrastructure run by the Kamikochi association.
