Laguna Torre (Cerro Torre)
✓ Verified against the agency · APNThe gentler of the two signature day hikes. 18–20km return, ~500m cumulative gain — most of it in the first 2km climb to Mirador Margarita, then a nearly flat valley walk. Delivers the view no other trail does: Cerro Torre (3,128m), Torre Egger, and the Torre glacier. Meaningfully less crowded than Laguna de los Tres, but the Mirador Maestri extension is the new Instagram spike — shoulder-to-shoulder by 11am.
Safety classification
Safe window October–March. NOT safe May–September without APN's winter rules: registration mandatory for all trails, poles and crampons mandatory, ice/mud/snow make conditions 'extremadamente complejas'. Year-round, skip it on strong-wind days — APN bulletins mark the sections beyond Mirador Cerro Torre 'no recomendable' in wind, and the Maestri moraine extension is 'exposed to wind' in APN's own table.
- ▲Strong wind on the exposed lake shore and especially on the Maestri moraine-ridge extension (APN: 'Exposed to wind')
