Cirque de Gavarnie
Not yet safety-verifiedA short, flat hike from the village of Gavarnie (1,365m) to the base of the Cirque de Gavarnie, a UNESCO World Heritage amphitheatre of limestone cliffs rising 1,500m in three tiers. The Grande Cascade — at 423m, the tallest waterfall in France — thunders down the back wall. Snowmelt peak is June. The trail is suitable for families, though the cirque floor can be muddy in spring.
