Cordón del Plata Traverse
Not yet safety-verifiedThe under-utilized acclimatization secret weapon for Aconcagua. From the Vallecitos ski area (2,900m), the traverse follows the Cordón del Plata ridge through a succession of peaks — Adolfo Calle (4,227m), Cerro Mausy (4,565m), Cerro Santa Elena (5,040m), Cerro Rincón (5,364m), Cerro Vallecitos (5,470m) — to the summit of Cerro El Plata (5,968m), the highest peak of the range. Most Aconcagua expeditions skip this entirely. The ones that don't have dramatically better summit success rates. Day 1-2 can be done as a standalone day hike to Adolfo Calle/Stepanek.
