Almost everything written in English about climbing Lanín traces back to a website the national park no longer owns — it now redirects to an online casino. From that one dead page come the two claims repeated everywhere: that the mountain takes 60 people a day, and that a guide is compulsory without exception. Argentina's own park service says otherwise, and the gap between those two statements is worth about USD 400.
