Rescue is free

You are not billed for rescue. Mountain search-and-rescue is done by the volunteer Comisión de Auxilio together with APN guardaparques and Gendarmería, and it is not charged to the rescued.

Travel or mountain insurance with helicopter evacuation and medical repatriation. Rescue is free but limited — register at the APN Zona Norte office, carry a way to call for help, and hold evacuation cover for the heli and hospital bills.
