Reality check

The Baltoro restricted zone requires a licensed Pakistani tour operator — independent access is legally impossible. Operator packages include guide, porters, cook, camp gear, and meals on trek. Peak season (mid-July) sees 50-100 trekkers plus porter teams at Concordia. The PIA flight to Skardu has a 20-50% cancellation rate; build in 2 buffer days.

Methodology: Operator package prices are midpoints from published 2025-2026 rates on operator websites, not promotional quotes. Permit fees are the May 2025 GB Cabinet-approved rates (summer season). The CKNP waste fee ($190) is the 2025 rate that replaced the former $68 fee. Flight costs are fare-aggregator midpoints for advance bookings. Exchange rate PKR 279/USD is the April 2026 open-market rate. The calculator does not model Askari Aviation helicopter rescue deposits ($12,000 refundable) — that cost sits outside the trekking budget and is covered separately by Global Rescue if applicable.
