Safety classification
Safe window: July to mid-September, once the high cols clear. FAM states the passes 'substantially exceed 2,000 m' and are 'snow-covered most of the year' — in June, crossings like Vallibierna still demand ice axe and crampons (Montana Segura: crampons, axe and helmet for any snow/ice zone, and the skill to use them). Not safe: October to June without full winter-mountaineering capability.
- ▲Lingering snowfields on cols above 2,500 m well into early summer (FAM warning)
