Interlaken
Interlaken means between the lakes, and it has been written that way since 1133. In the nineteenth century the town's hoteliers bought fourteen hectares in the middle of it for the sole purpose of never building on them, so that the view of the Jungfrau would survive. Then they spent sixteen years drilling a railway through the Eiger.
