Realidad
Rescue is free in Aragón (Spain) regardless of federation membership. On the French side, helicopter rescue is billed €1,500-5,000 to the patient. FFCAM membership (€48/yr) covers it. If your trek crosses the border, that is the insurance math.

Metodología: Spanish refugio half-board uses the FEDME/FAM published range (€40-65 non-member, ~30% discount for members). French CAF refuges run €5-15 higher but pricing is published as images on FFCAM sites and could not be extracted precisely. Flight costs are fare-aggregator midpoints. Airport transfers are published 2026 operator fares (ALSA, SNCF) or rental-car averages. Carros de Foc forfait is €35-40 from the official site. Park entry fees: zero for both Ordesa and Aigüestortes. The calculator does not include: gear you already own, side trips outside the chosen trek, or travel insurance beyond the line item shown. Many French refuges are cash-only — budget for ATM withdrawals before entering the mountains.
