Rescue insurance (mandatory)
Rangers check insurance at Horcones. Standard travel insurance almost never meets the requirements — you need explicit high-altitude mountaineering evacuation coverage to 7,000m.
Argentina also requires ≥USD 20,000 medical coverage at entry (since May 2025). This is separate from rescue insurance.
